I LOVE post-apocalyptic settings and stories. There is just something about making the world over, taking what is, knocking it down and building it back up. The world changed by mutation and re-emerging civilizations. Its the stuff of great storytelling to be sure!
Because of this love of the genre, I will be developing my own post apocalyptic setting which I am calling ATOMIC DAWN. It will be heavily inspired by some of my favorite comics, novels and movies of appropriate genres. The system being used will be none other than the Mutant Future role-playing game by Goblinoid Games. Its clean, well-balanced and extremely easy to learn (and free as a download).
Some recommended inspirations for Post Apocalyptic stories and games:
Comic Books/Comic Strips
Appleseed (the comics and the Anime are outstanding)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (mostly for the mutant animals and weird-tech)
Buck Rogers (the comic strips in-particular)
Judge Dredd
X-Men, Days of Futures Past (The original series)
Films
Day the World Ended,
Day of The Triffids (the novel, the movie and the BBC Series)
Monolith Monsters
Hell Comes to Frogtown
Yor Hunter of the Future
Zardoz (with Sean Connery!)
More to come!
